What To Expect

Here are some frequently asked questions about counselling.

What is Registered Clinical Counselling?

Clinical counselling is a collaborative process that supports individuals in navigating emotional, psychological, and life challenges. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), I provide a confidential, evidence-based, and compassionate space to explore concerns such as anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many clients seek support when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or simply want greater self-understanding. If something in your life feels difficult to manage alone, counselling can help.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance to:

  • Share what brings you to counselling

  • Ask questions

  • Get a sense of whether we’re a good fit

There is no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. We move at your pace.

Do I need a referral to see a clinical counsellor in British Columbia?

No referral is required. You can book directly with a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential and protected under professional and ethical standards in British Columbia. There are a few legal limits to confidentiality (such as risk of harm), which will be explained clearly during your first session.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes. I offer secure online counselling to individuals residing in British Columbia. Online sessions are convenient, effective, and allow you to access support from the comfort of your own space.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Frequency varies depending on your needs—some clients attend weekly, others bi-weekly or as needed. We’ll decide together what feels most supportive.

Is counselling covered by insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans in British Columbia cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I recommend checking with your provider to confirm coverage.

How do I book a session?

You can book a session directly through the online booking link on this website. If you have questions before booking, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation.
